"Like most artists, I have a need to communicate pictorially rather than with words. In my Drawings imitating reality isn't my primary goal. Looking fixedly at everyday scenes I try to find ways beyond temporal and spacial boundaries into realms normally only perceived in dreams or shamanistic states. I use the technical skills I have developed to evoke an emotion or sense of being within a particular space. In my Photographs I similarly try to evoke atmospheres or moods; choosing my subject matter once more from the everyday. The locations and images here are chosen to act as gateways into different mental states. In my Figurative Sketches I pursue a more primitive line trying to find the essentially animistic natures of my subjects. Finally in my Videos I explore rhythms and juxtapositions of found footage and videos filmed from kiosks. I feel I've been successful with my art when the viewer connects with the essence of a particular piece, and it brings about new insights or feelings."
